» Void Vision [Philadelphia, PA, USA]
http://www.myspace.com/voidvision
Void Vision is a Philadelphia-based project with a frequently morphing and experimentally-minded setup. The music itself is inspired by the obscure side of the 80's new wave and post-punk scenes, but branches out stylistically into a myriad of directions. Sonically and visually, they make an attempt towards the dramatic and eccentric, and flirt with dark, morbidly humorous themes. They are currently exploring the 8-bit and Coldwave genres, and obsessively collecting more gear than they know what to do with, while they work on recording material for their first release, and will be planning more shows in the near future.

» Go Motion [New York, NY, USA]
http://www.myspace.com/gomotionmusic
Paul Owens, co-founder of 2 Player Productions and director of the acclaimed documentary Reformat the Planet, puts aside the camera and picks up a Nintendo Game Boy as Go Motion, making music that sounds like the score to a really fun movie. He's also recently contributed to and co-produced the first two releases on Hemlock Records, Fade to Fall and Seasonal Affective.

NO CARRIER, or Don Miller, is an educator, programmer, and live visualist living in Philadelphia. He reprograms nearly obsolete videogame and computer hardware for use at live music events and installations. He primarily codes for the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Commodore 64, creating visual works that incorporates both new and recycled symbols and patterns. His work simultaneously speaks to the emerging DIY technology culture, and the reminiscence of a generation raised on interactive media technologies.

"Reformat the Planet 1.5" explores the last two years of chipmusic in New York, exposing fans of the original Reformat the Planet documentary to the intensity that was Blip Festival 2007 and 2008. This new documentary piece shines a spotlight on the ever-crowding Pulsewaves, the growth of the chip music scene in Philadelphia, and the arrival of the next generation of chip musicians to the 8bit scene. Runtime: 40 minutes.

That sounds like a great show, shame I can't be there.
Also, I have to (pathetically) admit that I had no idea Paul Owens was a chip musician outside of filmmaking with 2PP. Listening to what he's got on his myspace adds to the sadness of missing out on this show. Great fun.

I'm probably going camping with some old high school friends in Maryland, Don. I'll try to have some stuff for June or whatnot.
Anybody else have a pro bootlegger?

Open mic participants play one song, and similar to Pulsewave, three or four minutes max. Last time we had six people come out for open mic, and we want to make sure to keep it moving and allow time for everyone.
Also, come out early if you wanna do open mic, like during the screening. Sign up then to secure your spot.

I am pleased to announce that this show will also be the release of Alex's new album: Vegavox II
His third NES cart album will be on sale for a special $25 price at the show. Afterward it will be available online for $30. Extremely limited quantities are being made for the show, so make sure you grab one and grab it quick! A youtube preview will be coming later this week!

I certainly wouldn't say this is definite, but I don't think he will be playing any live shows for a longg time after this.

Seconded.
Looking forward to the show! Can't wait to grab vegavox 2. ![]()
Oh, and I wanted to give everyone a heads up that there won't be room to crash at my place this month.
I just moved, and there is quite literally no floor space with all the unpacking that is left to be done. I imagine the place will be fine by next month, but if anyone was planning on staying here ask don or dino-- they might have / know of more options.

What a killer show. I've been waiting 3 years to see Alex live and I was not disappointed at all.
