  • mag3b : I agree with Item 3, I can hear a bit of David Bazan in this, particularly when the vocal harmonies come in. Actually, it's kinda like a mix of David Bazan and John Linnell of They Might Be Giants. Not sure what your opinion of TMBG is, but I mean it as a compliment.

  • Bright New Future : I really like the main vocals, especially the way you drag "cannonball". For some reason, that's the only thing I really like about it and I have no idea why. It feels like something is missing. It's probably the mix, and I don't know anything about that. I'm sure it'll be great when you're done.

  • 10k : I like the mix because it sounds lo-fi. I think it suits the aesthetic and the songwriting still has a chance to shine. I am really looking forward to another J. Arthur release!

  • J. Arthur Keenes : Thanks all, this track probably could use more work, but I don't think I'll be putting much/any more time into it. Montoya: I'm suprised you are so abhorred by the mix, though I think it could definitely be better, to my ears it sounds at least okay. I would be curious to see if/how many people share your opinion. The vocals were not recorded with a poor microphone, thought they were recorded in a poor room for recording and were EQ'd viciously high which could give that impression.

Arthur Keenes : mrbill: However modest your setup is, I'm sure mine at the time of doing this was modest-er, I believe it was acoustic guitar/banjo recorded with a crummy mic into audacity and processed in FL, I think with enough work you can get decent sounding stuff out of just about any setup.
