GBA Future-Tech Demo

Uploaded by henryhomesweet on June 11th 2009, 09:45 PM

Good Morning 8bc! This is my latest offering of Brain Food. An 8minute wobbly slab of techy house and techno straight from the amazing Nanoloop 2.3. This was all recorded live, manual loop triggering and onboard effects with a Numark mixer + Reverb Pedal, there's none of that post-processing-shit you normally hear from me! This is simply one largely improvised session with a GBA. I would love to hear some feedback, particullaly about the mix, i monitored this with the worlds shittest headphones and im hoping its not too bad! A little test of material from a full live mix im planing to record and release this month :)

• henryhomesweet : Hey everyone! Thanks again for the comments! The mix is nearly ready, i demoed the release at a seriously messy party on Friday and it went down a treat, I think my mix on that night must have been a bit hazy but I played over 2 hours of this GBA tech material! Expect your brain to fucking curl up and transcend into space to the next dimension leaving you only a quivering shell that was once your body :) x

• SkyPop! : you posted this on my birthday! :O I also agree with Stevens, Iv been listening to your music for a couple years or something now, so I was there when you had just posted the old stuff you did, and iv always loved it, but the new stuff you produce is incedible! My dad didnt beleive me when i told him Garble House was made with a gameboy advance and effects ;D Also, this is awesome, I honestly cant wait for your next release, iv been dying since palm trance :[
on July 19th 2009, 02:01 AM
• Stevens : I always found it depressing when people claim to prefer your older stuff, because the new approach has produced some killer chipmusic. I'm not a fan of hyper melodic major key trance anyway but this is something else...the best sounds I've literally ever heard from Nanoloop 2. Congratulations, bring on the full-length. As for the reverb, I thought it was perfect, gave it a very Minus/Richie Hawtin feel.

Im really pleased with the atmosphere of the material so im hoping you will enjoy it when its out :)

on June 14th 2009, 09:24 AM
• swampyboy : sounds great, really eerie. nice to hear some stuff without post processing. as for monitoring with headphones, i went to a lecture from the guys who run RCA recordings and one of them was giving out technical advice to people interested in music tech. he said you should *never* master stuff with headphones, whatever quality they are. he said he uses crappy portable speakers to do it, cos then you know your track will sound good whether its playing on a car radio or dolby 7.1. saying that, this mix sounds fine. do you know if you can play on the 24th yet?
on June 14th 2009, 06:03 AM
• Pieces of Eight : Awesome work, guy!

on June 13th 2009, 05:23 PM
• Protest-Beige : I can't believe you haven't bothered with the sequencer all this time! You must have to think well carefully about where you save each phrase when making a song, i couldn't be bothered with that. Also, i wasn't properly impressed with this track until the cursor reached about the '9' in 'june 2009'. Then i thought it was pretty sick.

on June 12th 2009, 08:29 AM
• henryhomesweet : Thanks for the kind words people, so glad your feeling this! Gustav: 2.2 works quite differently to 2.3, its capable of the same or if not more sounds than 2.3 but i found it so difficult to grasp. It was just the transition from 1.3 to 2.2 that was hard adjusting to, its quite hard to navigate and has a strange method of file managing and storage. Ive never sequenced anything with nanoloop, all of my songs like simple pleasures have all been recorded whilst triggering loops from the file manager, i dont actually know how the sequencer works! Thats the reason i warmed tp 2.3 more because it uses virtually the same way of loop banking with the addition of a few more live features. If anyone's familiar with Nanoloop 1.3 then you wont have any problems operating 2.3, its beautiful! Gustav, they are both great programs, if your having difficulties with 2.2 i remember Big Chip wrote a superb tutorial on the basics :)
on June 12th 2009, 08:10 AM
• Gustav Thomas : HH - you're f*cking amazing. Wow, I still haven't got round to learning my 2.2 on the GBA, but this gives me a whopping boot in the harris... How much different is 2.3 from 2.2? Should I have both?
on June 12th 2009, 07:46 AM
• Pompei : Makes me want Nanoloop 2.3 so much more. I'm good with 1.3 for now though.
on June 12th 2009, 06:32 AM
• Diamonds & Dynamite : Ace track. Reminds me abit of deadmau5, but its a tad darker. Excellent work as usual though. I'm looking forward to hearing this live mix! xx
on June 12th 2009, 06:01 AM
• villewannabe : Very creative, ambient and cool soundscape. Btw the new song you've got on myspace is freaking rad! Nice to hear some of that ol' Homesweet!
on June 12th 2009, 04:47 AM
• an##g : Henry! You're so great... as allways.
on June 12th 2009, 04:43 AM
• µB : Massive wall of sound you got there, I like the slow intro part.
on June 12th 2009, 04:24 AM
• Kid Icaris : im actually seriously loving the end of this the progression is so good!
on June 12th 2009, 03:36 AM
• Kid Icaris : to gooood :) i need to get my hands on this nano loop i think.
on June 12th 2009, 02:00 AM
• cy9ez : Epic bass dude! Your music is so imaginative.
on June 12th 2009, 01:51 AM
• r0ckbit : this was cool.
on June 12th 2009, 01:40 AM
• stu roland : sounding ace man, think the mix is really good, FX are sounding cool if a bit wet :p but the whole thing runs pretty smoothly. its like a cool little journey. you're at the top for me
on June 12th 2009, 12:46 AM
• nintendopowerclub : I spun your song until I sleep in america in atlanta and it killed the dance floor just so you know keep on killing it!
on June 12th 2009, 12:31 AM
• (alt)Bro : I thought both the bass and the reverb were fine. Both are nearly exactly right, the bass could be heavier. What this needs is some nice eerie pads or strings in the slower, early, minimal section (if you can fit them on any of the channels). That'd make it really awesome
on June 11th 2009, 11:28 PM
• -12insomnia- : love it man,but i think you have to reduce the reverb :),i dont know it comes from my speaker or the mix. but overall is good as usually. good work
on June 11th 2009, 10:35 PM
• Deepearthvoid : yes! so dark and danceable. I love that combination. downloaded and liked for sure.
on June 11th 2009, 10:26 PM
• blueskies : This is really fucking great. Makes me want nanoloop.
on June 11th 2009, 10:16 PM
• Procyon Lotor : I don't see any problem with the bass! well for the reverb... Maybe it's the file quality... my ears are tired tonight :P But I really like the "dubstep like" part :D
on June 11th 2009, 10:14 PM
• smiletron : no prob! i understand how that is, im in the same situation right now: waiting for college to start back up so i can get my stuff set up again! cheers :)
on June 11th 2009, 10:11 PM
• henryhomesweet : Thanks for the advice guys! I was expecting it to be a bit too bassy but I had no idea it so reverb heavy! These headphones are really awful, its a cheapy headset combo for gaming ahah! cant wait to be back up at uni with some decent speakers and such :) Will be taking all your words into account to improve the mix, thankyou!
on June 11th 2009, 10:03 PM
• smiletron : only things i would have to say about the mix itself is that its drenched in reverb, and that the bass is a little heavy. :)
on June 11th 2009, 09:57 PM
• smiletron : i feel like im swimming in reverb! not that thats a bad thing :P its like a pretty dark house track, and i like that.
on June 11th 2009, 09:56 PM
• Spencircuit : From listening to it a second time, it reminds me of the mixes that were done to your previous work, which isn't particularly a bad thing, it just has quite a bit of reverb, and it sounds slightly demoish, but the performance is just so solid, that the creativity really makes up for anything wrong in the mix. Overall great work, I like all this House music you've been coming up with. I however prefer it with all the post-processing you normally do.
on June 11th 2009, 09:54 PM
• Spencircuit : Exquisite ^_^
